“While they’re playing golf in Ontario and on the Prairies, snow has been piling up at Panorama Mountain Village.”
A press release issued today (November 21) by Panorama Resort states that “In the last four days, the mountain has received more than 40 centimetres of snow! With all the new natural snowfall and snowmaking in full effect, the excitement is building for opening day on December 11th, 2009”.
Skiers, get your skis ready! It’s snowing at Panorama – bigtime!
Panorama has had the biggest dump of snow in November in years. Forty centimetres in four days is one whole lot of snow! What a great way to greet the season.
The press release went on to say that ….. “race teams from around the world are already here and training for the coming race season. At the moment, the resort is hosting the Coaches Cup – FIS ski race on Old Timer and National Team racers from both Canada and Italy are training on Showoff for the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics. More than 200 ski racers are on the mountain already”. Sounds like mid-winter rather than mid-November!
For those ski-and-snowboard buffs who haven’t played at Panorama before, the action takes place in the Purcell Mountains, only a snowball’s distance from Invermere. The resort boasts one of the longest vertical descents in North America, with quad chairlifts and 120 trails, all of which make it one of the most sought-after winter vacation destinations in North America.
