Panorama Mountain Village Inc. has announced that its acquisition from Intrawest by a group of Panorama homeowners and local business people has been finalized. Although they are diverse in many ways, the investors share one thing in common – a tremendous passion for Panorama Mountain Village. Led by Rick Jensen, they have plans to operate, grow and further develop the resort which is already a leading year-round recreational destination, into one of the best family-focused mountain resorts in Canada. The best snow cover in recent memory has made this a red-letter day for the official start of the season at Panorama Mountain Village –- the full 4,000 vertical feet is ready for skiers and riders.

With a 29” (72cm) summit base and 77 trails and bowls skiable, including powder spots like Taynton Bown, the Extreme Dream Zone and Sun bowl, conditions are excellent and likely to be even better after an expected snowfall this weekend. [Read more]

“While they’re playing golf in Ontario and on the Prairies, snow has been piling up at Panorama Mountain Village.”

A press release issued today (November 21) by Panorama Resort states that “In the last four days, the mountain has received more than 40 centimetres of snow! With all the new natural snowfall and snowmaking in full effect, the excitement is building for opening day on December 11th, 2009”.

Panorama’s new helmet guidelines

Vancouver-based Intrawest, owners of both Panorama and Whistler Blackcomb resorts, will be increasing awareness of the importance of helmet use for skiers and snowboarders at both resorts, beginning this 2009-2010 ski season.

At Panorama Mountain Resort this 2009-2010 season, helmet use will be strongly recommended for everyone and will be mandatory for children from age 3 to 12 years and youth from 13 to 18 who participate in Ski and Snowboard School Programs. All participants in freestyle terrain park programs, regardless of age, will be encouraged, although not required, to wear helmets this season. [Read more]
