Kimberley, like many towns in the Kootenay Rockies, offers limitless recreation activities year round. The Kimberley Alpine Resort is known for skiing, while in the summer the Kimberley Nature Park is one of the largest municipal parklands filled with hiking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails. Stroll through the downtown core and visit the unique shops. Places to eat are plentiful in Kimberley with coffee shops, bistros, pubs and fine dining. While in Kimberley visit "Happy Hans" the town mascot and Canada's largest freestanding cuckoo clock who will yodel for you if fed a dollar.

The Kimberley Underground Mining Railway travels through the beautiful Mark Creek valley as a guide speaks about the history of Kimberley and the Sullivan Mine. Learn about mining at the Underground Interpretive Centre. Partake in a short walk to the Sullivan Mine Powerhouse for a guided tour featuring the huge compressors and generators that powered the mine. Board the train again to learn more about Kimberley and enjoy spectacular scenery and glimpses of the occasional wildlife as you travel back to the station. Mining Tours are available from Victoria Day Weekend (3rd weekend in May) until Labour Day in September. Fares average $20 for adults, $8-$15 for children.

Kimberley Alpine Resort's outdoor Skating Rink is located behind the Alpine Sport's Boutique and is open for us daily, skates are available at the rental shop. Every Tuesday and Saturday Night from 6:00pm - 8:00pm keep warm by the fire.

Kimberley’s Aquatic Centre is also a great place in the town of Kimberley for swimming.

The Kimberley Aquatic Centre, located in town, boasts some great water facilities including a 25 metre 5-lane lap pool, leisure pool, and competition diving boards. Water features include the lazy river, T-cup spray and vortex. There is also a hot tub, steam room and pool side viewing terrace. Catering for all the family, there is an integrated tots pool, ramped access and family changing rooms.

The Kimberley Nordic Club hosts a 33 km first-class trail network consisting of a variety of snowcat groomed trails complete with double track, single track and a centre skating lane. Trails range from easy loops such as Spruce and Centennial to advanced ones such as Cardiac Arrest, Roller Coaster and K-2 with many hills, up to 100 meters in size. Night skiing every night all winter long - dusk until 10:00pm.The facility includes a 1,200 sq ft lodge with washrooms, a 3.3 km lit loop for night skiing and a warming / waxing hut.

The 25 km long North Star Rails to Trails links Kimberley to south Cranbrook on a converted railway bed.  This year round, multi-use (non-motorized only) trail offers gentle grades in both directions allowing for families to enjoy the fantastic scenery together.  Bikers, walkers, skateboarders, roller bladers and cross country skiers will all enjoy this jewel of the local trail network.  The trail head is located across Rotary Drive from the Kimberley Civic Centre arena and there are numerous easy access points along the entire trail, allowing users choose any distance of excursion.
